QTE establishes sales agency in the Middle East

Emirates plans to adopt renewable energy on a large scale

The United Arab Emirates are currently facing an annual CO2-output of over 30 tons per person per capita – one of the highest values worldwide. For this reason and in order to preserve precious natural resources, the country located by the Arabian Gulf is aiming to take a leading role within the field of renewable energies.

“Of course, oil is still the first choice when it comes to cover the demand for energy. But oil is a finite resource and it is calculated that in 40 years this will be exhausted in Dubai,” says Thomas Eusterwiemann, Managing Director of QTE GmbH.

Dubai - city of superlatives

Within the “Dubai strategy plan 2015”, an extensive socio-economic program for the future, the protection of the environment is made a top priority which leads to the promotion of environmentally friendly technology and the development of renewable energy resources. This decision follows a guideline from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.

About Masdar City:
In Abu Dhabi, the “city of the future” Masdah City is already in the making - a showcase project in the area of energy efficiency. On a 6km² expanse a CO²-neutral city of science is arising, fully powered by renewable energies. Water supply for example will be realized through a solar-powered desalination plant while the energy is generated by a 10MW solar power plant. .

“It is not a question of whether it is currently necessary to create alternatives here but whether we are able to realize these visions.” says a representative of DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) in Dubai.
Various projects have progressed in Dubai where some of the skyscrapers and shopping malls are equipped with photovoltaic systems to power the energy-intensive air conditioning systems.
All of this requires intelligent energy management solutions.

Intelligent Green Management for Middle East

In order to create smart grids, solutions are needed which QTE as an independent provider of smart energy management solutions can offer. “We take every order as an independent project and process it as such. No matter if it’s a PV Hybrid, an energy storage, system monitoring or off-grid system that requires energy management, QTE has the right solution. QTE is a pioneer and technology leader in the field of PV System automation, monitoring and energy management.”

Experience and competence – Quality made in Germany

QTE has already been working in the GCC-region for some years. The know-how of their German engineers and technicians in the field of system automation was already been proven in countless projects. “We have already been providing high level automation system training to various entities in the Emirates.”

After business trips to Oman and the Emirates together with the German chamber of foreign trade, QTE appointed CLS Energy Consultants DMCC as their representative. With their combined Middle East working experience of more than 40 years CLS is well positioned to promote QTE’s Solutions and Services.

“We see great potential in our cooperation with QTE”, says the CLS CEO Claudio Palmieri. “Local climate conditions and the rapid increase in power demand is already posing a great challenge for local grid operators, who seek to mitigate the potential impact of large scale integration of PV systems by adopting smart energy management solutions early on.  We predict that the share of energy generated from solar power assets in the Middle East will rise drastically within the next couple of years.”

About Claudio Palmieri: Claudio Palmieri has more than 20 years Middle East experience. He has worked in commissioning, engineering, project management, service, sales, project development and business development for power, renewable energy and Oil & Gas for companies like ABB, MTU and Kharafi National which included a position on the board of directors of a Solar PV EPC company registered at Masdar, Abu Dhabi.
